Following the free agent market is incredibly important for fantasy football success. First, you scour the blogosphere (that is still a thing right?) for articles about the "waiver wire" (you should check out our waiver wire article every Tuesday!) and see what previously unknown stud will replace one of your duds from the past week.

But what if you did not manage to snag one of those players? What if you had low waiver priority, not enough time with a busy work week, or too much to drink watching Monday Night Football? Well, then you would probably want to know who is still left once the first batch of add/drops clear early Wednesday morning.

Luckily for you, we at The Lateral had the same thought, so every Wednesday we are going to let you know the top players still left in over 50% of Yahoo leagues and 50% of ESPN leagues. Below you will find one for each position, and why they are the addition your team needs. You will also find who were the players everyone added to get ready for their next match-up, and which players got left in the dust to make way for the new guys.

Week 6 Movers & Shakers

Top Players Left on the Board Yahoo Leagues

QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick (38% rostered Yahoo/48.1% rostered ESPN)

Andy Dalton is worth considering on either platform, but Ryan Fitzpatrick is QB6 through five weeks on a surprisingly feisty Miami Dolphins team that features a Top-6 QB, a Top-20 WR in Devante Parker, Preston Williams is about to crack into WR3 territory, and a surprise Top-20 RB in Myles Gaskin. Do I think this team is suddenly a contender? No. But they will be competitive enough to continue to be fantasy relevant at this current pace. Also, they play the Jets this week, so worst case grab Fitzmagic as a streamer.

RB: J.D. McKissic (9% rostered Yahoo/18.2% rostered ESPN)

Sneaky plays here are La'Mical Perine maybe taking over the starting job on a dominant performance against Miami if fellow RB Frank Gore (also widely available!) stumbles, and Royce Freeman being the Phillip Lindsay to Phillip Lindsay's Melvin Gordon III if Gordon is suspended for a DUI. But the safest play readily available is McKissic, who is officially the passing-down back in Washington. In standard he would be dud, but luckily this is PPR, and McKissic is third on the team in targets. The game-script expectation against New York is not in his favor, but the options are limited enough that I still think his floor is safer than someone like Rex Burkhead.

WR: Chase Claypool (45% rostered Yahoo/71.6% rostered ESPN)

Read our "Week 5 Recap" for plenty of takes on Claypool, then catch your league-mates sleeping and pick up Captain Canada (sorey, Ryan Smyth).

TE: Jimmy Graham (49% rostered Yahoo/61.2% rostered ESPN)

Just barely making the cut, snag this week's waiver pick while you can!

DST: Miami Dolphins (43% rostered Yahoo/46.8% rostered ESPN)

The Dolphins were rostered in only two percent of leagues when we wrote our waiver wire article for Week 6. Clearly some of you read it.

K: Jason Saunders (32% rostered Yahoo/42.6% rostered ESPN)

Younghoe Koo was the pick here until news of Atlanta shutting down facilities due to COVID-19 broke this morning. The game is still on for now, and Koo is still widely available, but I wanted to recommend someone whose game was not currently in danger. Enter Miami kicker Jason Saunders, the top kicker in fantasy through five games.
Top Players Left on the Board ESPN Leagues

QB: Ryan Tannehill (46.4% rostered ESPN/60% rostered Yahoo)

Ryan Fitzpatrick may be the Ryan to grab in Yahoo, but for some reason ESPN players have been sleeping on the best Ryan QB in the NFL (and that absolutely includes Matt Ryan). Tannehill is QB9 on a PPG basis, and probably helped you win a league last year when he was QB3 weeks 12-16. He already had his bye because of the COVID-19 outbreak in Tennessee, so he is a potential set and forget option that is surprisingly available.

RB: Damien Harris (41.8% rostered ESPN/58% rostered Yahoo)

The same sneaky plays exist in ESPN, but so does Week 4 100-yard rusher Damien Harris! If Harris is somehow available in your league, he is the easy choice. See the Week 5 Waiver Wire for more on why Harris is a good pickup.

WR: Laviska Shenault Jr. (31.2% rostered ESPN/32% rostered Yahoo)

Covered Shenault in this week's waiver wire column. Read up and snag the one of the guys on the JAGs who is not a JAG.

TE: Eric Ebron (40.3% rostered ESPN/49% rostered Yahoo)

Speaking of Week 6 waiver picks that are somehow still available, go get Eric Ebron. Also consider Austin Hooper, who is available in 46.3% of leagues and TE8 since Week 3.

DST: Tennessee Titans (14.7% rostered ESPN/32% rostered Yahoo)

Charles' pick of the New York Football Giants is still viable here, but that was before we saw the Titans demolish the Buffalo Bills, and post a respectable 8.0 points. Given they are a Top-12 DST in PPG, I recommend them over the Giants.

K: Joey Slye (19.3% rostered ESPN/66% rostered Yahoo)

Younghoe Koo and Jason Saunders are still widely available, but weirdly so is Slye. Given he is not widely available in Yahoo, I figure I would mention him here, given I have also mentioned him here in the past
