2020 Season: Dynasty Playoff Buys with C.J. Krause

A few wise men once said, It might sound crazy but it ain't no lie, Baby buy buy buy… or something like that. If you’re reading this, you’ve made your dynasty league's playoffs. Congratulations! However, now is NOT the time to get complacent. If your league allows it, hustle out there and pick up guys that can put you over the top. (NOTE: These players will not be cheap, but remember, we play to win 'SHIPS, not trades) Quarterbacks
Jared Goff (Los Angeles Rams)
Coming off one of his worst performances of the year (and career!), it’s hard to want to buy him. BUT his juicy matchups make him a very good pick up for your dynasty playoff push and for the future of your team. For one, it’s always good to have a QB under contract for the next year so this isn’t just a rental. The Rams’ upcoming matchups are the Patriots at Week 14, the Jets at Week 15, and the Seahawks at Week 16. This buy is especially important for those lucky owners with a Week 14 bye in the playoffs because the Jets allow the fourth-most most points to fantasy QBs and the Seahawks allow the most. If you do not have the bye, do not be afraid - the Pats are still middle of the pack in terms of points allowed.
Tom Brady (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
Tom-pa Brady is on the list of rentals. So, don’t go too overboard in acquiring him because his future in the NFL is uncertain. Buuut he is the best buyable win-now QB for the 2020 fantasy playoffs. The Vikings/Falcons/Lions are all in the bottom half of fantasy points allowed to the QB position. But, with all of Brady’s weapons, getting Brady could be a cheap way to get an advantage over your opponents. Running Backs
Just to get this out of the way – I will NOT be mentioning Titans RB Derrick Henry or Packers RB Aaron Jones because every single podcast, article, and media outlet for the past month has been telling you to buy these guys, their prices have ballooned beyond a reasonable buy, and all your league mates know it too. BUT if you can get them for a reasonable price, DO IT.
David Montgomery (Chicago Bears)
Not the sexiest buy, but he will get the job done. That’s how I feel about picking up this man. This is a buy that might not even cost you a 1st round pick to acquire. Smash matchups in Week 14 and 16 with the Texans and the Jags means we can expect, at worst, top 15 running back production in the wildcard and finals. You might need to have somebody ready for Week 15, but Montgomery is still a great floor RB for that week.
Nick Chubb (Cleveland Browns)
Go. Go right now and look at your league. Send a message to the Nick Chubb owner and pay the price they are asking. As long as it doesn’t cripple your team, PAY IT! Chubb officially ran more routes last week than Kareem Hunt. The ceiling just rose on arguably the best pure runner in the NFL. With a matchup against the Ravens Week 14, you may be able to leverage a slightly cheaper deal from a team that is also in the playoffs but hasn’t earned a bye in Week 14 (I know I did). He is matchup-proof, and in Week 15 and 16 Chubb gets to run over the Giants and the Jets. Wide Receivers
Robert Woods/Cooper Kupp (Los Angeles Rams)
Start by going back and reading what I wrote about Jared Goff. Now extend that to his top two targets. Since these players are a bit older, you can leverage their age to attempt to get a discount while getting the best playoff matchups.
Terry McLaurin (Washington Football Team)
Go. Right Now. Right after snatching up Chubb. Message the McLaurin owner and pay that price they want. I personally just paid Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr., a 2021 late 1
st round pick, and a 2021 mid 2nd round pick for Scary Terry. F1 is a certified stud and is QB-proof. So, this is a buy for the fantasy playoffs with 49ers/Seahawks/Panthers matchups Weeks 14-16. McLaurin has league-winning potential now, and will be a wide receiver anchor for years to come. Tight Ends
Robert Tonyan (Green Bay Packers)
Okay so there isn’t much here, but if you are reaaally dying to get a tight end, the one buy I recommend is Robert Tonyan. This is mostly for those of us who have a Week 14 bye. We all know unless you have Travis Kelce, TE is a crapshoot. Luckily, unless you are facing Kelce, your opponent is in the same boat. Tonyan does have the most favorable matchups Week 15 and 16 with the Titans and Bears, respectively. Now, these matchups sound worse than they are because these teams shut down wide receivers, however this will play in your favor since it allows the tight end to get the volume and I’m sure Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will figure that out. Don’t go crazy on him though - like a 3rd round pick or two should do the trick. That’s it y’all. I hope you are able to pick up some of these guys and win those 'ships. Tag me on Twitter - @KiddFlashFF1 - if you are able to trade for one of these guys, and tag me again when you win your league because of them.

  1. Lost Dak earlier in year, somehow made it to 10-2 with Baker and Dalton. I just traded a 3rd rd next year for Brady last week to make a run at the ship.
