Week 3 Sunday Preview
Key Player Updates
Go get Sleeper and Fantasy Life on your phone immediately. That is where I pull all my player updates from.
Top Waiver Players Available
If you play in an ESPN league, there is a chance you can snag Derek Carr (Las Vegas Raiders) off of waivers. He is currently QB9 on the season, was Herms's recommendation for a waiver pickup in Week 3, and has a good matchup against the reeling Miami Dolphins. Most likely though, you will need to pick up Daniel Jones (New York Giants), Teddy Bridgewater (Denver Broncos) or Jared Goff (Detroit Lions). Jones in particular has been a hot topic all week, with myself, Herms, and Zach Crutcher all recommending him as a play against the Atlanta Falcons.
Running back is brutal right now, but there are some options. My boom pick at running back this week is Latavius Murray (Baltimore Ravens) and if you are in an ESPN league you may still be able to pick him up. Same with Alexander Mattison (Minnesota Vikings), who looks likely to start in place of Dalvin Cook today. For those of you in Yahoo leagues, J.D. McKissic (Washington Football Team) is probably your best bet and was my waiver wire recommendation this week.
Somehow Darnell Mooney (Chicago Bears) is still available in over 50% of leagues. Go fix that. If you cannot get him, Christian Kirk (Arizona Cardinals) is still available in over half of all ESPN leagues with a good matchup. Zach Pascal (Indianapolis Colts) also has a good matchup, and with quarterback Carson Wentz under center, Pascal should capitalize on it. Braxton Berrios (New York Jets) currently leads all Jets in targets, and K.J. Osborn (Minnesota Vikings) has cemented his role as the third wide receiver in Minnesota. Both are still widely available. Finally, Van Jefferson (Los Angeles Rams) is primed for a boom performance in Week 3 and has locked down the WR3 role in Los Angeles.
I have talked about Pat Freiermuth (Pittsburgh Steelers) all week. He is the only tight end I would be trying to pick off of waivers in most leagues. Cole Kmet (Chicago Bears) still has potential in a good matchup, but inconsistent usage and a new quarterback make him a stay away for me.
The Las Vegas Raiders have a great matchup against the Dolphins and should capitalize on Dolphins backup Jacoby Brissett making some mistakes. The New York Giants were my waiver wire recommendation this week and are still widely available if you need to stream a defense.
Dustin Hopkins (Washington Football Team) is the clear choice and is available everywhere.
