Week 7 was not a great week, but the bounce-back is coming. Getting Kenneth Gainwell right was pretty good, and absolutely nailing the Nick Folk pick felt great. Still, there is room for improvement.

The good news? It is now Week 8, so there is nearly half a season of data available. So while anything can still happen on any given Sunday, there is less guesswork involved at this point. The bad news? A fair amount of teams are on a bye week in Week 9, so that reduces the pool of viable targets. Still, there is be gold in those hills. There is always money in the banana stand. (Insert something about a diamond in the rough).

Note: All finishes are per FantasyData, and injuries are always a push.

A Week Too Early Waiver Wire: Week 8 Moves for Week 9

Bye Weeks: Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Football Team

Week 7 Successes: PPR RB19 Kenneth Gainwell (Philadelphia Eagles), K1 Nick Folk (New England Patriots)

Week 7 Failures: QB17 Teddy Bridgewater (Denver Broncos), PPR WR49 Darnell Mooney (Chicago Bears), PPR TE43 Ross Dwelley (San Francisco 49ers), DST22 Philadelphia Eagles Defense/Special Teams

Week 7 Pushes: None

Record: 11-25-3

Key Matchups: Houston Texans at Miami Dolphins (1 pm ET Sunday)

Who to add: Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins) [40.4% ESPN/42% Yahoo]

There is a chance that Tua Tagovailoa is traded before this Week 9 game against the Houston Texans. If he is not though, he will have an opportunity to continue his hot fantasy football steak. Despite the Miami Dolphins' struggles on the field, their quarterback has been one of the best fantasy football quarterbacks over the past two weeks. The Texans will not be the ones to pull Tagovailoa up short.

Running Back (PPR)

Key Matchups: Minnesota Vikings at Baltimore Ravens (1 pm ET Sunday)

Who to add: Latavius Murray (Baltimore Ravens) [35.2% ESPN/42% Yahoo]

Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell is also a solid option here. He has an excellent matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers and starting running back Miles Sanders could be out. However, Gainwell was too widely rostered to make the cut.

Even if Gainwell was within the threshold, Latavius Murray would still be the pick. When healthy, Murray is the starting running back for the Baltimore Ravens. Whether it was the injury sustained in Week 6 or the Week 8 bye week for the Ravens, Murray is now available in many leagues. He should not be. Plus, not that it matters, but the Minnesota Vikings are a solid matchup for Murray to make his return.

Wide Receiver (PPR)

Key Matchups: Minnesota Vikings at Baltimore Ravens (1 pm ET Sunday)

Who to add: Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens) [19.8% ESPN/32% Yahoo]

Fantasy football managers are really sleeping on the Baltimore Ravens. Yes, the Minnesota Vikings are not the most exciting matchup for opposing wide receivers, but they are not a scary matchup either. Rashod Bateman may not have taken over the top wide receiver role in Baltimore yet, but he saw six targets per game in his two games so far this season. Take the targets, and expect the fantasy football points to follow.

Tight End (PPR)

Key Matchups: Minnesota Vikings at Baltimore Ravens (1 pm ET Sunday)

Who to add: Tyler Conklin (Minnesota Vikings) [13.4 ESPN/16% Yahoo]

As some readers have already guessed, this could be a high-scoring game. The Baltimore Ravens defense has given up 30.2 points per game outside of two excellent performances against the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers. They have also given up a ton of fantasy football points to tight ends, including just last week to Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah. Minnesota Vikings tight end Tyler Conklin has seen over four targets in every game but one so far this season, so he will definitely have opportunities to gouge the Ravens secondary.

Defense/Special Teams

Key Matchups: Las Vegas Raiders at New York Giants (1 pm ET Sunday)

Who to add: Las Vegas Raiders Defense/Special Teams (DST) [19.3% ESPN/19% Yahoo]

It is always tough for fantasy football managers to roster a second DST. However, those who can snag the Las Vegas Raiders DST while they are on bye will have an excellent option for Week 9. The Raiders are a top-8 fantasy football DST in the post-Gruden era, and the New York Giants are a good fantasy football matchup for opposing DSTs. That is a recipe for success.

Key Matchups: Tennessee Titans at Los Angeles Rams (8:20 pm ET Sunday)

Who to add: Randy Bullock (Tennessee Titans) [29.5% ESPN/17% Yahoo]

Are the Los Angeles Rams a great matchup? No, but they are fine. Fantasy football managers do not need to bench a kicker just because the kicker plays the Rams. So go pick up Randy Bullock, who is K3 since starting for the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.
